By May 10th, as part of my film team role, I will explore different adr sounds and analyzes which adr sounds fit the mood of our film. This will make the intensity of our film stronger and would result in high quality film making for our may project.

How to ADR a film

Adr is a process of re recording the audio after filming to improve sound quality or adjusting dialogue.

Adr is best on short film shots.

outside recording makes the adr more natural.

mixing sounds makes the elements more crisp and helps analyzes the best adr sound to use.

Skills Commentary

I designed the audio for the film to match the them of our movie. I implemented pre music to know what the film introduction will sound like then i merged this sound with repetitive sounds. I incorporated this work in my slideshow.

I learned how to record ADR with different scenes and different actions of the film because I wanted to explore different ADR sounds.

Ways of Working (Communication & Collaboration)

I collaborated with my team to make sure if the music was good and if I needed to take out sounds that didn’t fit the theme of the movie. There were obstacles but made my creativity increase.

Tools for Working (Info & Media Literacy)

Our movie was intended to be a mockumentary that incorporated action, drama, and comedy all at the same time. Our image quality increase because we used new camera.

Ways of Living in the World (Life & Career)

I saw the social network and inspired to implement different film shots that helped our movie quality higher. This was caused by the motivation of research that I did to implement such technique.

Reactions to the Final Version

Josie said she like the intro music, however we needed to edit the metronome to make the sound quality more clear and crisp.

Self-Evaluation of Final Version

I am proud of how I research and became creative in gathering different information to create a good film shot that was relevant to our film. This will help me benefit in the future through job opportunities and other career paths.

The Social Network- fired scene

In 2:27 Andrew Garfield has a camera walking with him to show intensity and stress within the scene.

In 2:49 we see a focused shot of Eisenberg to understand his point of view on the story because the background is blurry.

In 2:53 we see three different subjects from a long shot to show the reaction of each individual at that moment.

In 3:24 we see a medium shot on Esiberg to show the explanation of the story or dialogue throughout the story.

In 3:30 we see a close-up shot of Garfield to demonstrate the emotion and his side of the story on the problem.

In 3:32 shows how Justin Timberlake is rebutting against Garfield of his viewpoint by having a “don’t care” face and implying that Garfield is fired from Facebook.

In 3:37 we see Garfield in a side camera shot to represent his emotional anger toward the accusations Timberlake is inflicting on him.

At 4:30 we see the end of the firing scene however a walking shot from Timberlake to mock Garfield for his share as a bad business partner.

In 4:41 we see Garfield making a fist and other employees behind him react towards the mocking that Timberlake had on him. That is also to emphasize that Timberlake doesn’t respect Garfield anymore after the freezing of the company.

In conclusion, we see three subjects arguing, however, Eisenberg only fires him behind his back and doesn’t tell him to his face, but Timberlake and Garfield had multiple edits where we see arguments and hypocrisy between the two. That is a good example of how to film a scene because there is a problem, accusation, emotion, disrespect, and unsettlement.

I implemented visual structure rhythm in the making of different sounds and music for our film. The rhythm used in the setting of the scene to convey Pablo’s emotion of stress. Rhythm was created through chairs, windows, and posters that Pablo passed as he ran. This showed his stress by externally representing his thoughts. We created a song in the film that made the film more cinematic.

From my experience of working on the film, I worked hard on it and I think it turned out pretty good. My team and I need to work on implementing better, more accurate sounds.

What I Learned and Problems I Solved

I learned to use background knowledge on making music and sounds to implement good music. This shows how effective it can be to know skills that are beneficial in the future.

Make the camera settings more efficient to improve quality.

PRE-PRODUCTION – INQUIRY

Training Source(s):

  1. You need a shallow depth of field for better cinematic movies. This is a blurred background to help the audience stay focused on the subject. This will be presented by the F number on the camera settings.
  2. make the subject closer because it creates higher shallow depth of field.
  3. Diffent camera movements are associated with different scences.
  4. The higher the framrate the better the movie quality. 24 fps is recommened for cienmatic shots.
  5. Use the same frame rate when editing to make the cienmatic shots more clear and consistent.
  6. You can use balck bars in parts of the film shots to make the film looke cienmeatic.
  7. Color grading is important for better cinematic shots however don’t use too much in the movies because it can be distracting for the audience.
  8. Fonts are important to ensure the theme of the movie.

One of the most famous cinematographers who helped film 1917 was Roger Deakins. He is very unique because the filming of 1917 was done with profound detail and the camera quality made the action in it better. He explains how young filmmakers can make films with a low budget using Digital intermediate because it provides more freedom for changing the contrast, saturation, and lighting. He likes spherical lenses more than anamorphic lenses because it makes the quality of the film better. Also, the light processing of anamorphic lens is slow to the point where it leads to lens flares.

While I was remotely working with my group I was creative to text them and talk about the progress of the film.

Prior to working remotely, I explained to my team the cinematography techniques and how certain angles need to be implemented in a certain way.

I used the Storysium youtube channel because they had really good tips and services that helped me. I also read about the experience and skills of Roger Deakins because he’s an interesting and inspiring reference

This project taught me to collaborate with my team remotely despite not being together.
